ABOUT EXECUTIVE EXCELLENCE

Executive Excellence (EE) is a team of professionals founded by former senior members of the Australian Army. With backgrounds in the Special Air Service Regiment (SASR), Commandos, Health and Fitness, Medical Corps and Learning & Development we are committed to assisting people become significantly more effective in their personal and professional lives. We will work with you individually, or with your corporate or sporting team, no matter what the challenge, by providing the motivation, discipline and attitude needed to achieve your specific objectives and goals.

EE offers five streams of programs: Adventure, Fitness, Elite Sporting Teams, EE Corporate and The Excellence Academy. These programs involve sophisticated activities, specifically designed for the executive adventurer, sports enthusiast, sporting team or innovative business. The benefits of these types of programs differ from person to person, but we can guarantee the result will be significant and life-changing. Our clients tell us that the most significant results from undertaking an EE program can not only include increased fitness and wellbeing but also a reinvigoration through a sense of ‘living life’.

Many of our clients tell us that their whole attitude to life in general, changes as a result of undertaking our programs. Put simply, many clients believe our programs help them live their lives as active participants, rather than as casual observers.

 


EE STAFF

JOHN MILES - Managing Director

John was formerly the Senior Instructor at the Defence Force Physical Training School, and has more than 25 years’ experience in Health, Fitness and conditioning for specific activities. He has mentally and physically prepared both elite athletes and sporting teams to improve their on-field and specific event performances.

John formulates and develops all EE's physical preparation programs to ensure every client on every program is physically prepared for the challenge. The level of training received by John is equivalent to that of leading NRL, AFL or Australian Institute of Sport conditioning coaches.

John has tertiary qualifications in Business and Training as well as an Associate Diploma in Applied Science (Physical Training).

Area of specialisation: John is the EE expert in adventure fitness preparation. He is responsible for the physical preparation of every individual and team preparing for our adventure programs. John's expertise in preparing elite athletes and teams will be used in planning your preparation.

 ALLAN FORSYTH - Assistant Operations Manager

Allan served with the Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) for more than 20 years, planning, organising and conducting its complex and demanding training schedule. Allan is one of the most highly respected and experienced members of the Special Forces community and was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to the SAS. Allan has extensive expertise in the areas of leadership, management, communication and improving the responses of individuals and teams to physically and mentally challenging environments.

Area of specialisation: Allan is responsible for the thorough preparation of all adventure equipment, all adventure administration whilst on programs and most importantly, the morale and wellbeing of every client on every program.

 ALISON MCLYNN - Marketing Manager

Alison is degree qualified in Business Management and International Business. She has over ten years experience in various client service roles, and has extensive experience in marketing, communications and event management.

Alison is Marketing Manager at EE and is responsible for external communications, as well as the point of contact for enquiries regarding EE's programs. 

Alison trekked Kokoda in 2006, which enables her to provide an even higher level of client service due to her first hand experience.

SIMON SMALL - Head of EE Corporate

Simon, the Mental Toughness Coach and Master Facilitator, has many years experience in operational leadership roles including 10 years service as an officer in the Australian Army. A Graduate of the Royal Military College, Duntroon, he served as a military commander where he had the opportunity to hone his leadership skills. He was subsequently involved in training other officers in leadership and small team dynamics back at Duntroon. Since leaving the service in 1997 he has been conducting development programs and coaching assignments with corporate individuals and teams.  

Simon believes an individual's mental capacity is linked to their physical capability. With this in mind he has undertaken numerous physically and mentally challenging events and adventures.

Obsessed with the achievement of improved personal performance Simon walks his talk. He successfully balances the responsibility of raising a young family with the challenges of growing a successful small business. This busy life is coupled with his desire for continuing education, achieving university qualification in adult education, human resources and coaching.

Now working as an individual and team coach and facilitator, Simon is passionate about sharing this insight into what it takes to develop mental toughness and perform at your best.

Area of specialisation: Simon is the head of EE Corporate and is subject expert in coaching, facilitation and adventure learning. His broad theoretical knowledge and practical experience offers an unequalled ability to facilitate learning and behavioural change in the experiential environment.

 MICHELLE AULIFF - Client Service Manager

Michelle brings a wealth of management and operational experience to EE.  Her experience in event organisation and client liaison fits perfectly with the need to coordinate the busy operational program of EE.


As the Client Service Manager, Michelle ensures our valued clients’ needs are met while being responsible for the professional conduct of our program administration.

 

Michelle trekked the Kokoda Track in 2005 and will expertly guide you through the administrative preparation for your adventure.

GLENN AZAR - Operations Manager

Glenn has spent 17 years in the Australian Defence Force in Medical corps where he was qualified as a Medic and Physical Training Leader. Glenn served on active duty as a Patrol Medic and Patrol Commander in Bougainville as a member of the Peace Monitoring Group and in East Timor as a member of Interfet and was among the first medical crews to land with the advance parties. 

Glenn has since been qualified as a Registered Nurse, completing his Nursing Degree at the University of Southern Queensland in Toowoomba and has also run his own Personal Training business over the last 5 years. 

Glenn has worked as a trek leader with Executive Excellence since 2004 and is now Operations Manager, overseeing all the logistical preparation for each EE adventure.

Glenn is EE's specialist in altitude adventures and will continue to lead other treks for EE in 2008.

GUY ANDREWS - Adventure Consultant

Known for his excellence at the elite level of competitive Surf Life Saving. Guy continues his drive for achievement in everything that he does. Recently retired from competitive Surf Life Saving his sporting career has seen him win numerous awards, including 3 x Uncle Toby's Ironman Super Series Championships, an Australian Open Ironman Championship and was the winner of the gruelling Test of the Toughest competition.

A little known fact is that Guy is also an Australian Age Triathlon Champion, and has world rankings in Adventure Racing. He competed for the first time in China in the World Adventure Racing Championships. His team managed to beat the World Champions on Day 2 of the 4-day event and finally came in 3rd out of 30 teams. Guy also competed in the World Solo championships in NZ recently were he beat all the European and N. American champions and placed 4th outright.

Guy is now regarded as one of Australia's best Adventure Racers. With a past like this what does the future hold for Guy Andrews? He aims to carry on with his adventure racing and use his media profile to help raise awareness of the benefits of being active and its contribution toward the health of Corporate Australia and our children. Guy aims to become as successful in business as he has been in sport, and to use his success to inspire fellow Australians toward the road of health and personal fulfilment.

Area of specialisation for EE:  Guy is a consultant in our Adventure and Fitness team.

AARON HOGBEN - Fitness Manager

Aaron has tertiary qualifications in Applied Science (Human Movement) from the University of South Australia, TAFE Certificate 4 education in Fitness and is a Registered Professional with Fitness Australia. He comes to EE by way of Toowoomba where he handled a busy personal training schedule for Fighting Fit.

 

Aaron’s background in movement education comes via a long involvement with Chinese martial arts and health practices and he has traveled throughout South-East Asia in his studies - currently he is licensed to instruct Chen Style Tai-Chi and Chi- Kung. He has a broad range of experience having worked in rehabilitation, with conditioning of both amateur and professional athletes and meeting the needs of the general population as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor.

 

Area of specialisation: Aaron is responsible for overseeing all of EE Fitness.

PETER O'BRIEN - Lead Consultant

Peter O’Brien has a long history of involvement in the research, delivery, and successful implementation of Business Improvement processes. Since 1990 Peter has provided the intellectual firepower that has seen his business emerge as one of Australia’s most respected Corporate Development Consultants.

Between 1987 and 1990 Peter was involved with the redesign and delivery of the RAAF’s Leadership Training, including the introduction of experiential and adventure learning elements. On leaving the RAAF college, Peter joined the UK based “MaST Organisation”, conducting the ‘Leaders to the Top’ program. After a year’s preparation, he led a team of ten senior corporate executives to the summit of Mt Aconcagua, the world’s highest mountain outside the Himalayas.

As a facilitator Peter has built a reputation as dynamic, entertaining and highly informative, however his skills are not limited to presentation. He has facilitated many high-level organizational re-design forums, and in one instance, amazed conveners by obtaining resolution from 30 managers on a $300 million governance agreement in under a day.

Peter’s driving passion is the application of cutting edge thinking to business, and he is constantly researching fields such as philosophy, physics, mathematics, linguistics and business. Using this unique mix of influences, he has synthesised an interconnected range of strategic concepts for dealing with today’s complex business environment, balanced with practical models for workplace implementation.

Area of specialisation for EE: Peter is a consultant in leadership, team facilitation and program design.

JOHN O'BRIEN - Adventure Consultant

John has specialized in developing relevant and accessible games, activities and adventures for corporate conferences and training events. His development of the concept of High Adventure Team Problem Solving Games is slowly sweeping the training world.

In 16 years of contracting to corporate, educational and community training organisations John has safely dispatched well over 35,000 abseilers. John has gained repute as a major developer of sport rock-climbing in Queensland, putting up over 1,000 meters of new routes in one year alone. On a busy day John controls over 4 kilometers of rope as it runs through his right hand.

You are unlikely to find anyone with more corporate adventure training experience. When working with John always expect something that is safe, challenging and very different.
