ANZAC DAY SERVICE

In 2003, for the first time in history, a full Anzac Day Service was conducted on the Kokoda Track. EE conducted the ceremony at the Isurava Memorial site on the Kokoda Track and more than 60 Australians trekked the track with us to be at the memorial on Anzac morning to pay their respects.

Our EE Minister, former Australian Army Principal Chaplain (Brigadier) John Butler, delivered the Anzac Service at the memorial. A bugler was also in attendance to play Last Post and Reveille. In 2005, a bag piper led the 105 trekkers from our camping site above the memorial down to the Dawn Service.

In 2008, EE is running four separate Anzac treks across the Kokoda Track. The four treks will all come together on Anzac eve in preparation for a memorial service on Anzac morning. Following the service, the four treks will make their way off to complete their trek.

GROUP SIZES

Group sizes for Kokoda Track treks are generally between 15 and 20 people. Private departures of at least ten people can also be organised over any 10 day inclusive period throughout the year.

The trip is coordinated by EE trek leaders, and assisted by up to eight local PNG staff (based on a 15 person departure). Our trek leaders have trekked the Kokoda Track more than 30 times and have extensive knowledge of the area, including the culture and way of life of the local people, the flora and fauna and, of course, the history of the route.
